Beth Watts

Beth WattsBeth is a Research Asssociate working on the mapping unmet and emerging needs in Britain project, she joined the Young Foundation in April 2008.

This study aims to profile hidden and emerging needs in a new way, combining large scale quantative and imaginative local qualitative research.

Before joining the Young Foundation Beth worked at the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. Beth worked on the JRF's poverty research and on their centenary public consultation exploring what 'social evils' face Britain today. Beth has also worked and volunteered at Shelter as a campaigner and policy researcher, where she explored the environmental implications of housing development.

In 2007 Beth completed her Masters in Social Policy at York University. Her dissertation explored the ethics and implementation 'intentional homelessness', a concept employed in English homelessness legislation to limit a local authority's duty to house a person deemed culpable for their own homelessness.

Beth has a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University.
