Brigitte Gohdes is the Programme Leader for the London Collaborative, an initiative started in 2007 to help London's public sector be more than the sum of its parts.
The programme is part of the Local Innovation team. It works with local authorities and other public services to identify and meet strategic challenges facing the capital including entrenched worklessness, claimate change, population flows and changing public behaviour. Common Purpose and the Office for Public Management are partners.
Brigitte joined the Young Foundation in January 2008, after spending 18 months as a freelance policy consultant. Prior to that, she built up long experience in strategy, policy and performance roles in London boroughs, including Lewisham, Hammersmith and Fulham and Camden. She was originally drawn to local government in London through the GLC and has also worked for the GLA.
Brigitte led work on governance, customer focus and public engagement, and councils' growing role in leading and delivering in partnership.
Brigitte did sociology and politics at McGill in Montreal, and undertook postgraduate work in women's studies and film studies in England. She spent some years as a community organiser in Canada and California.
She rides a motorcycle in London, and her favourite place outside London is Italy.
