Breaking cycles of entrenched homelessness in the US: the rise of 'Housing First' and lessons for the UK

Carol McNaughton Nicholls will be giving a lunchtime seminar on her work with Housing First.

Carol joined the National Centre for Social Research in 2008, and has nine years experience of qualitative research with ‘hard to reach' and multiply excluded groups for central and local government, academia and the voluntary sector. Carol completed a MSc in Social Research in 2001, a Phd from the University of Glasgow in 2006 and has held research posts at the University of Edinburgh, University College London and the University of York.

Her most recent book ‘Transitions through Homelessness' was published by Palgrave Macmillan in the Summer. Earlier this year Carol spent time in New York researching the Housing First approach and has since worked on contrasting this with services for homeless people in the UK.
